Balance is something that you may not think about often, or ever! Most of us take balance for granted because we are not often faced with situations in which our balance is challenged. One problem with this is that as we get older, our balance naturally fades away, making falls more prevalent among the older population. There are some ways you can challenge your balance at home. Stand on one foot as you do a daily chore like folding clothes or washing dishes. Walk heel to toe down your hallway. Stand on one foot with your eyes closed and try not to tap your raised foot on the floor. If you need more balance challenges, come see me at the gym.
